Description

The 3M™ Coban™ 2 Lite Multi-Layer Compression System Kit is a two-layer compression bandage system designed to provide reduced therapeutic compression for the management of venous leg ulcers, oedema and other conditions where full compression may not be appropriate or well tolerated.

The system combines a soft Comfort Layer with a cohesive Compression Layer, creating a thin, low-profile bandage system that helps provide effective compression while remaining comfortable during everyday movement.

Coban 2 Lite is particularly suited to patients who are new to compression therapy, less tolerant of higher compression, frail or less mobile, or who have mixed aetiology leg ulcers where reduced compression is clinically indicated.

Key Features

  • Reduced compression system: Provides lower resting pressure than standard Coban 2.
  • Two-layer design: Combines a soft comfort layer with an outer cohesive compression layer.
  • Suitable for ABPI 0.5 and above: Designed for patients where reduced compression is clinically appropriate.
  • Helps manage oedema: Supports fluid management and reduction of lower-limb swelling.
  • Suitable for mixed aetiology leg ulcers: May be used where arterial and venous disease coexist, following appropriate vascular assessment.
  • Low-profile construction: Thin design helps reduce bulk around the leg.
  • Helps reduce slippage: The two layers bond together to form a stable compression sleeve.
  • Flexible and conformable: Designed to follow the contours of the limb.
  • Suitable for patients less tolerant of compression: Useful where standard high compression may not be appropriate.
  • Can be worn for several days: May remain in place for up to 7 days where clinically suitable.

What is Coban 2 Lite used for?

Coban 2 Lite is designed for patients who require compression therapy but may not be suitable for standard full-strength compression.

Typical applications include:

  • Mixed aetiology leg ulcers
  • Venous leg ulcers where reduced compression is indicated
  • Lower-limb oedema
  • Lymphoedema
  • Patients who are new to compression therapy
  • Frail or less mobile patients
  • Patients who cannot tolerate higher compression levels

The system helps support venous return while reducing excess fluid within the tissues.

What is included in the kit?

Each Coban 2 Lite Compression System Kit contains two bandages:

Layer 1 – Comfort Layer
Size: 10cm × 2.7m
Provides cushioning and helps protect the skin.

Layer 2 – Compression Layer
Provides reduced therapeutic compression and adheres cohesively to the first layer.

Kit quantity: 1 complete two-layer system

How does Coban 2 Lite work?

The first layer provides a soft interface against the skin while conforming closely to the shape of the limb.

The cohesive compression layer is then applied over the top. The two layers bond together, helping create a stable compression sleeve that resists slipping during movement.

Compared with standard Coban 2, Coban 2 Lite provides reduced resting pressure, making it more suitable for selected patients who cannot tolerate full compression.

Who is it suitable for?

Coban 2 Lite is intended for patients who require reduced compression therapy, including those with an ABPI of 0.5 or above, where compression has been clinically assessed as appropriate.

It may be particularly useful for:

  • Patients with mixed arterial and venous disease
  • Patients who are frail or less mobile
  • People who are new to compression therapy
  • Patients whose tolerance of compression is not yet known
  • Those who experience discomfort with standard high-compression systems

An appropriate vascular assessment should always be completed before compression therapy is started.

Important Information

Compression therapy should only be initiated following appropriate clinical assessment.

Coban 2 Lite should not be confused with standard Coban 2, which provides a higher level of compression and is generally intended for patients with an ABPI of 0.8 or above.

Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for use and local clinical guidance when applying compression bandaging.

Why choose Coban 2 Lite?

Coban 2 Lite combines effective reduced compression with a thin, lightweight two-layer design, making it a practical option for patients who require compression therapy but may not tolerate standard full compression.

Its cohesive construction helps reduce slippage, while the low-profile design supports mobility and everyday comfort.
