Description

The 3M™ Coban™ 2 Multi-Layer Compression System Kit is a two-layer compression bandage system designed to provide effective, sustained therapeutic compression for the management of venous leg ulcers, oedema and lymphoedema.

The system combines a soft Comfort Layer with a cohesive Compression Layer, creating a thin, lightweight bandage system that provides reliable compression without excessive bulk. The two layers interlock with each other to help reduce slippage and maintain consistent compression during wear.

Each kit contains everything required for one below-knee application.

Key Features

  • Two-layer compression system: Combines a soft comfort layer with an outer compression layer.
  • Provides therapeutic compression: Designed for the management of venous leg ulcers and other conditions where compression therapy is clinically appropriate.
  • Helps reduce oedema: Sustained compression supports fluid management in the lower limb.
  • Low-profile design: Thin and lightweight construction helps reduce bulk around the leg.
  • Helps minimise bandage slippage: The two layers bond together to create a stable compression sleeve.
  • Designed for consistent application: The compression layer is applied at full stretch, helping reduce variation in the level of compression.
  • Breathable and flexible: Designed to support patient comfort during wear.
  • Can be worn with normal footwear: Its low-profile construction may allow patients to continue wearing their usual shoes.
  • Latex-free construction: Not made with natural rubber latex.
  • Up to 7 days wear time: May remain in place for up to seven days when clinically appropriate.

What is the Coban 2 Compression System used for?

Coban 2 is designed for patients who require sustained compression therapy to help manage lower-limb venous disease and swelling.

Typical applications include:

  • Venous leg ulcers
  • Chronic venous insufficiency
  • Lower-limb oedema
  • Lymphoedema
  • Other conditions where full compression therapy is clinically indicated

Compression helps support venous return and reduce fluid accumulation within the tissues, which can assist wound healing and management of lower-limb swelling.

What is included in the kit?

Each standard Coban 2 Compression System Kit contains two bandages:

Layer 1 – Comfort Layer
Size: 10cm × 2.7m
Provides cushioning and helps protect the skin.

Layer 2 – Compression Layer
Size: 10cm × 3.5m
Provides the therapeutic compression and adheres cohesively to the first layer.

Kit quantity: 1 complete two-layer system

How does Coban 2 work?

The first layer provides cushioning and conforms closely to the shape of the leg.

The second cohesive compression layer is then applied over the top. The two materials interlock with each other, helping create a stable compression sleeve that resists slipping during movement.

The system is designed to deliver effective working pressure during activity while remaining relatively comfortable at rest.

Who is it suitable for?

Coban 2 is intended for patients requiring full therapeutic compression for conditions such as venous leg ulcers, oedema or lymphoedema.

The manufacturer recommends the standard Coban 2 Compression System for patients with an ABPI of 0.8 or above.

An appropriate vascular assessment should be carried out before compression therapy is started. Patients with reduced arterial circulation may require a different compression system, such as Coban 2 Lite, or alternative management.

Why choose Coban 2?

The Coban 2 Compression System combines effective therapeutic compression with a thin, low-profile two-layer design.

Its cohesive construction helps reduce slippage while the lightweight system can make everyday mobility and footwear easier compared with bulkier multi-layer compression systems.

For managing venous leg ulcers and lower-limb oedema, Coban 2 provides a practical system designed to deliver reliable compression with straightforward application.
