Description

The 3M™ Coban™ 2 Compression Bandage is the outer compression layer used as Layer 2 of the Coban 2 Two-Layer Compression System.

Designed to be applied over the compatible Coban 2 Comfort Foam Layer, this cohesive bandage provides therapeutic compression while helping create a secure, low-profile compression system. The material adheres to itself and bonds with the underlying comfort layer, helping reduce slippage and maintain consistent compression during wear.

Supplied as one individual bandage, it is ideal for replacing or stocking the compression layer separately from a complete Coban 2 kit.

Key Features

  • Layer 2 of the Coban 2 system: Designed for use over the compatible Coban 2 Comfort Foam Layer.
  • Provides therapeutic compression: Supports the management of venous disease, oedema and lymphoedema where full compression is clinically appropriate.
  • Cohesive construction: Adheres to itself and works with Layer 1 to create a stable compression sleeve.
  • Helps reduce slippage: The two Coban 2 layers mechanically grip together to help keep the system securely positioned.
  • Applied at full stretch: Designed to support consistent compression application.
  • Low-profile design: Helps reduce bulk compared with some traditional multi-layer compression systems.
  • Flexible and conformable: Adapts to the contours of the limb.
  • Supports mobility: Thin construction may allow normal footwear and clothing to be worn more easily.
  • Available individually: Useful when a separate replacement Layer 2 bandage is required.

What is the Coban 2 Compression Bandage used for?

The Coban 2 Compression Layer is used as the second stage of the Coban 2 compression system.

After the Coban 2 Comfort Foam Layer has been applied to the limb, the Compression Layer is wrapped over the top to provide the required therapeutic compression.

Together, the two layers form a cohesive compression system that can be used in the management of conditions including:

  • Venous leg ulcers
  • Chronic venous insufficiency
  • Lower-limb oedema
  • Lymphoedema
  • Other conditions where full compression therapy is clinically appropriate

How does Coban 2 Compression Layer work?

The compression bandage has cohesive properties that allow it to stick to itself and grip the underlying comfort layer.

Once applied, the two layers work together as a single compression sleeve. This helps maintain compression while reducing movement between the layers and minimising bandage slippage.

The standard Coban 2 system is intended for patients suitable for full therapeutic compression.

Who is it suitable for?

Coban 2 Compression Bandage is intended for use as part of the complete Coban 2 Two-Layer Compression System.

The standard Coban 2 system is generally recommended for patients with an ABPI of 0.8 or above, following appropriate vascular assessment.

It may be used in the treatment of:

  • Venous leg ulceration
  • Lymphoedema
  • Chronic oedema
  • Venous insufficiency

Important Information

The Coban 2 Compression Layer should not be used as a standalone compression bandage. It is designed to be applied over the compatible Coban 2 Comfort Foam Layer.

Compression therapy should only be started following appropriate clinical and vascular assessment.

For patients who require reduced compression, Coban 2 Lite may be more appropriate.

Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for use and local compression therapy guidance.

Why choose Coban 2 Compression Bandage?

The Coban 2 Compression Layer provides a convenient way to replace or stock the outer component of the Coban 2 system without purchasing a complete kit.

Its cohesive construction, low-profile design and reliable therapeutic compression help create a stable compression system that supports effective management of venous disease and oedema.
