Description

The 3M™ Coban™ 2 Lite Layer 2 Bandage is the outer compression layer used as part of the Coban 2 Lite Two-Layer Compression System.

Designed to be applied over the compatible Coban 2 Lite Comfort Foam Layer, this cohesive bandage provides reduced therapeutic compression for patients who may not tolerate full compression. The material adheres to itself and works together with the underlying comfort layer to create a secure, low-profile compression system.

Supplied as one individual bandage, it is ideal for patients who need a separate replacement Layer 2 component rather than a complete Coban 2 Lite kit.

Key Features

  • Layer 2 of the Coban 2 Lite system: Designed for use over the compatible Coban 2 Lite Comfort Foam Layer.
  • Provides reduced compression: Suitable where lower compression levels are clinically indicated.
  • Cohesive construction: Adheres to itself and bonds with the first layer to create a stable compression sleeve.
  • Helps reduce slippage: The two layers work together to help keep the compression system securely positioned.
  • Low-profile design: Helps reduce unnecessary bulk around the limb.
  • Flexible and conformable: Adapts to the contours of the leg and other treated areas.
  • Supports oedema management: Helps control swelling where reduced compression therapy is appropriate.
  • Suitable for mixed aetiology wounds: May be used where arterial and venous disease coexist following appropriate vascular assessment.
  • Available individually: Useful when a separate Layer 2 bandage is required.
  • Multiple sizes available: Allows the bandage width to be matched to different treatment areas.

What is Coban 2 Lite Layer 2 used for?

The Coban 2 Lite Compression Layer is used as the second stage of the Coban 2 Lite compression system.

After the Coban 2 Lite Comfort Foam Layer has been applied, Layer 2 is wrapped over the top to provide the required level of reduced compression.

The system may be used in the management of conditions including:

  • Mixed aetiology leg ulcers
  • Venous leg ulcers where reduced compression is appropriate
  • Lower-limb oedema
  • Lymphoedema
  • Chronic swelling
  • Patients who are less tolerant of full compression

How does Coban 2 Lite Layer 2 work?

The cohesive outer layer is designed to bond with the underlying Coban 2 Lite Comfort Foam Layer.

Once applied, the two components work together as a single compression sleeve. This helps maintain compression, minimise movement between layers and reduce bandage slippage during wear.

Compared with standard Coban 2, the Coban 2 Lite system provides reduced compression, making it suitable for selected patients who require a gentler compression option.

Who is it suitable for?

Coban 2 Lite Layer 2 is intended for use as part of the complete Coban 2 Lite Compression System.

The Coban 2 Lite system may be suitable for patients who:

  • Require reduced compression
  • Have mixed arterial and venous disease
  • Are less tolerant of standard compression
  • Are frail or less mobile
  • Are new to compression therapy
  • Require management of oedema or lymphoedema

Appropriate vascular assessment should always be completed before compression therapy is started.

Important Information

The Coban 2 Lite Layer 2 Bandage should not be used as a standalone compression bandage. It is designed to be applied over the compatible Coban 2 Lite Comfort Foam Layer.

Compression therapy should only be initiated following appropriate clinical and vascular assessment.

Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use and local compression therapy guidance.

Why choose Coban 2 Lite Layer 2?

Coban 2 Lite Layer 2 provides a convenient way to replace or stock the outer compression component of the Coban 2 Lite system separately.

Its cohesive construction, low-profile design and reduced therapeutic compression help create a stable compression system that can be more comfortable for patients who may not tolerate standard full compression.
