Description

Lomatuell Pro Dressing by Lohmann & Rauscher is a sterile, gel-forming wound contact layer designed to protect superficial wounds while helping support a moist wound-healing environment.

The open-net polyester tulle is impregnated with a combination of Vaseline and hydrocolloid particles. When the dressing comes into contact with wound exudate, the hydrocolloid helps form a gel layer while the open structure allows excess fluid to pass through into a suitable secondary dressing.

This helps minimise the risk of the dressing sticking to the wound, supporting atraumatic and lower-pain dressing changes.

Key Features

  • Gel-forming wound contact layer: Hydrocolloid particles interact with wound exudate to help create a moist wound environment.
  • Helps minimise wound adhesion: Designed to reduce sticking to the wound bed and wound edges.
  • Supports comfortable dressing changes: Helps facilitate atraumatic, lower-pain removal.
  • Effective exudate transfer: Open-net structure allows excess wound fluid to pass into a secondary absorbent dressing.
  • Suitable for a wide range of wounds: Can be used on acute, chronic and post-surgical wounds.
  • Flexible and conformable: Soft material adapts easily to different areas of the body.
  • Can be cut to size: Allows the dressing to be tailored to individual wound dimensions.
  • Can be applied either way up: Both sides of the dressing can be placed against the wound.
  • Sterile and individually sealed: Supports hygienic wound-care practice.
  • Suitable for different levels of exudate: Can be used with an appropriate secondary dressing depending on wound requirements.

What is Lomatuell Pro used for?

Lomatuell Pro is used as a primary wound contact layer to help protect the wound surface while allowing exudate to drain into a secondary dressing.

It can be used during the exudation, granulation and epithelialisation phases of wound healing and is suitable for a range of acute and chronic wounds.

Typical applications include:

  • Lower leg ulcers
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Cuts, lacerations and abrasions
  • Second-degree burns
  • Surgical wounds healing by secondary intention
  • Skin graft donor sites

Lomatuell Pro may also be used as a separating layer in conjunction with negative pressure wound therapy, where clinically appropriate.

How does Lomatuell Pro work?

The dressing combines an open polyester mesh with a coating containing Vaseline and hydrocolloid particles.

When the dressing comes into contact with wound exudate, the hydrocolloid particles help form a gel at the wound interface. At the same time, the open-net structure allows excess fluid to move through into the secondary dressing.

This helps maintain a moist wound environment while reducing the risk of the dressing adhering firmly to new tissue.

Dressing Change Frequency

The manufacturer states that Lomatuell Pro is normally changed every 2–4 days.

Depending on the type of wound, level of exudate and healing progress, it may be changed more frequently or left in place for up to a maximum of 7 days.

The secondary dressing may require changing more frequently depending on the amount of wound exudate.

Who is it suitable for?

Lomatuell Pro is suitable for patients requiring a non-adherent wound contact layer for acute, chronic or post-surgical wounds.

It is particularly useful where maintaining a moist wound environment and reducing trauma during dressing changes are important considerations.

A suitable secondary dressing should be selected according to the wound's exudate level and clinical requirements.

Always follow the supplied instructions for use and the advice of a qualified healthcare professional when managing chronic, infected, deep or slow-healing wounds.

Why choose Lomatuell Pro Dressing?

Lomatuell Pro combines non-adherent wound protection, moist wound management and effective exudate transfer in a flexible and easy-to-use contact layer.

Its gel-forming hydrocolloid technology helps reduce adhesion to the wound while its open-net structure allows excess exudate to pass into the secondary dressing. This makes it a versatile choice for a wide range of wound types and stages of healing.
