Description

Activon® Tulle Knitted Viscose Manuka Honey Dressing

Activon® Tulle is a knitted viscose mesh wound dressing impregnated with 100% medical grade Manuka honey. Designed as a primary wound dressing, it helps create a moist healing environment while providing antibacterial action and helping to manage wound odour.

The soft, conformable mesh provides close contact with the wound bed while remaining non-adherent, helping to reduce pain and trauma during dressing changes. Activon® Tulle can be applied directly to the wound, cut to size if required and covered with an appropriate secondary dressing according to wound type and exudate level.

Indications include:

  • Pressure ulcers
  • Leg ulcers
  • Surgical wounds
  • Infected wounds
  • Burns
  • Cuts and abrasions

How does Activon® Tulle work?

Activon® Tulle combines a conformable knitted viscose mesh with 100% medical grade Manuka honey.

When applied directly to the wound bed, the Manuka honey helps provide an antibacterial environment while supporting moist wound healing and helping to reduce unpleasant wound odour.

The open, flexible mesh allows the dressing to conform closely to the wound surface. Its non-adherent construction is designed to minimise disruption to the wound during removal.

As wound fluid dilutes the honey over time, the dressing should be changed according to exudate levels and clinical assessment to maintain an effective concentration of honey.

Activon® Tulle for infected and malodorous wounds

The medical grade Manuka honey in Activon® Tulle makes it particularly useful where antibacterial action and wound odour management are required.

Advancis Medical states that Activon® Tulle can be used on infected wounds as well as wounds containing slough or necrotic tissue. Its ability to create a moist healing environment also supports the wound management process while the secondary dressing manages additional exudate.

How to use Activon® Tulle

Remove the clear protective film from both sides of the dressing and place Activon® Tulle directly onto the wound bed. Either side of the dressing can be applied to the wound.

The dressing may be cut to size using an appropriate sterile technique. Once positioned, cover it with a suitable secondary dressing, selected according to the wound characteristics and level of exudate.

Depending on exudate levels, oedema, surrounding fluid and the dressing regimen, Activon® Tulle may remain in place for up to 7 days. The dressing should be changed when the colour changes significantly, indicating that the honey has become diluted.

If required, removal can be assisted by irrigating the wound bed with saline solution.

Available Activon® Tulle sizes

Activon® Tulle is available in:

  • 5 × 5 cm – Product code CR3761
  • 10 × 10 cm – Product code CR3658

When should Activon® Tulle not be used?

Activon® Tulle should not be used in patients with a known allergy to bee venom, bee products or essential oils.

The dressing contains glucose, so glucose levels should be monitored in patients with diabetes where clinically appropriate.

Some patients may experience discomfort or pain when a honey dressing is first applied. If pain persists, use should be discontinued and the wound irrigated with saline in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and appropriate clinical guidance.

Why choose Activon® Tulle?

Activon® Tulle combines 100% medical grade Manuka honey with a soft, conformable knitted viscose mesh, providing a straightforward primary dressing for a broad range of wound types.

Its combination of antibacterial action, wound odour management, moist wound healing and a non-adherent contact layer makes it a versatile option for managing wounds including pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, surgical wounds, burns and infected wounds.

Wound assessment, dressing selection and frequency of dressing changes should always be based on clinical judgement and the manufacturer's instructions for use.
