Description

Hydrocoll® Border Hydrocolloid Wound Dressing

Hydrocoll® Border is a self-adherent hydrocolloid wound dressing with an adhesive border, designed to support moist wound healing while absorbing wound exudate. The hydrocolloid layer reacts with wound fluid to form a soft gel, helping maintain a moist environment that supports granulation and epithelialisation.

Its bordered design helps provide secure fixation around the wound, while the semi-permeable outer film protects the wound from external contamination and is impermeable to water and microorganisms.

Hydrocoll® Border is suitable for wounds where a hydrocolloid dressing with integrated adhesion is clinically appropriate, providing wound protection, exudate management and fixation in one dressing.

Key benefits of Hydrocoll® Border

  • Self-adherent hydrocolloid wound dressing
  • Integrated adhesive border for secure fixation
  • Absorbs wound exudate and transforms into a gel
  • Supports a moist wound-healing environment
  • Helps support granulation and epithelialisation
  • Semi-permeable protective outer film
  • Impermeable to water and microorganisms
  • Provides wound protection without requiring a separate fixation dressing
  • Bevelled-edge design helps the dressing conform to the skin
  • Suitable for a range of wound sizes
  • Available in square, concave and sacral formats within the Hydrocoll range

What is Hydrocoll® Border used for?

Hydrocoll® Border is used for the management of wounds where hydrocolloid therapy and moist wound healing are appropriate.

It is particularly suited to wounds producing levels of exudate that can be effectively managed by a hydrocolloid dressing.

The dressing may be considered for a variety of superficial and granulating wounds following appropriate clinical assessment, with dressing selection based on wound condition, exudate level and surrounding skin integrity.

How does Hydrocoll® Border work?

Hydrocoll® Border contains absorbent hydrocolloid particles that interact with wound exudate.

When the dressing comes into contact with wound fluid, the hydrocolloids absorb the exudate and form a gel. This gel helps maintain a moist environment at the wound surface, supporting the natural wound-healing process.

The outer semi-permeable film provides a protective barrier against water and microorganisms while allowing the dressing to remain in place over the wound.

Hydrocoll® Border and moist wound healing

A moist wound environment can support key stages of wound healing, including granulation and epithelialisation.

Hydrocoll® Border is designed to create and maintain this environment by converting absorbed exudate into a gel beneath the dressing.

This also allows the wound to remain covered and protected while reducing the need for a separate primary dressing and fixation layer.

These formats help accommodate different wound dimensions and anatomical locations.

Why choose Hydrocoll® Border?

Hydrocoll® Border combines hydrocolloid exudate management, moist wound healing and integrated adhesive fixation in a single dressing.

Its hydrocolloid layer absorbs wound fluid and forms a gel, while the outer film provides protection against water and microorganisms. The bordered construction helps simplify application by securing the dressing directly to the surrounding skin.
