ConvaMax™ Superabsorber Dressing

ConvaMax™ Superabsorber is a highly absorbent wound dressing designed for the management of moderate to highly exuding wounds. Its multi-layered construction rapidly absorbs wound fluid and locks exudate away within a superabsorbent core, helping protect the wound and surrounding skin from the effects of excess moisture.

Designed to combine high fluid handling with softness and conformability, ConvaMax™ can retain wound exudate and bacteria within the dressing, helping reduce the risk of fluid returning to the wound bed, clothing or bandaging.

ConvaMax™ Superabsorber is highly absorbent even when used under compression, making it a versatile option for wounds where reliable exudate management is a priority.

Key benefits of ConvaMax™ Superabsorber

  • Superabsorbent wound dressing for moderate to highly exuding wounds
  • High fluid absorption and retention
  • Superabsorbent core forms a gel and locks exudate away from the wound
  • Helps retain bacteria within the dressing
  • Helps minimise leakage and strike-through
  • Highly absorbent even when used under compression
  • Soft and conformable for patient comfort
  • Protective blue backing helps prevent exudate strike-through
  • Wicking layer transfers fluid into the absorbent core
  • Helps protect surrounding skin from excess wound fluid
  • Can be used as a primary or secondary dressing
  • Available in a wide range of sizes
  • Non-adhesive and silicone adhesive versions are available

What is ConvaMax™ Superabsorber used for?

ConvaMax™ Superabsorber is designed for the management of moderate to highly exuding wounds, particularly where excess wound fluid places the surrounding skin at risk of moisture-related damage.

It may be suitable for a range of exuding acute and chronic wounds following appropriate clinical assessment, including wounds managed beneath compression therapy.

Its high absorption and retention capacity make ConvaMax™ particularly useful when effective management of large volumes of wound exudate is required.

How does ConvaMax™ Superabsorber work?

ConvaMax™ uses a multi-layered design to absorb, distribute and retain wound exudate.

The wound-facing wicking layer provides a soft interface with the wound and transfers fluid into the central absorbent core.

The superabsorbent core then absorbs the exudate and forms a gel, locking fluid away and helping prevent it from being released back towards the wound.

A protective blue polypropylene backing layer helps minimise leakage and strike-through into bandages, clothing or bedding while also supporting moisture vapour transmission.

ConvaMax™ for highly exuding wounds

Excess wound exudate can contribute to maceration and reduced skin integrity if it is not effectively managed.

ConvaMax™ is specifically designed to handle high levels of wound fluid, absorbing exudate into its superabsorbent core and retaining it away from the wound bed.

ConvaTec reports an absorption capacity of up to 170 g per 100 cm² in in-vitro testing, supporting its use where high fluid-handling performance is required.

Can ConvaMax™ be used under compression?

Yes. ConvaMax™ Superabsorber is designed to provide high fluid absorption and retention even under compression.

This makes it suitable for exuding wounds where compression therapy forms part of the prescribed treatment plan, such as certain venous leg ulcers.

The dressing should always be selected and used in accordance with clinical assessment and the appropriate compression protocol.

Can ConvaMax™ be used as a primary or secondary dressing?

ConvaMax™ can be used as either a primary or secondary wound dressing, depending on the wound and treatment requirements.

Where an additional primary dressing is required, ConvaTec states that ConvaMax™ may be used with a Hydrofiber® dressing such as AQUACEL® EXTRA™. Exudate can transfer through the primary layer before being absorbed and retained within the ConvaMax™ superabsorbent core.

Why choose ConvaMax™ Superabsorber?

ConvaMax™ Superabsorber combines high absorption, fluid retention and conformability to help manage the challenges associated with moderate to highly exuding wounds.

Its superabsorbent core locks away wound fluid and bacteria, while the protective backing helps minimise leakage and strike-through. The dressing also maintains high absorbency under compression, offering additional flexibility in the management of exuding wounds.
